Year after year, we celebrate together, sharing joy and embracing the new. Amidst waves of laughter and cheer, the teachers and students of the High School Affiliated to Beijing Normal University AP Program gathered to welcome the arrival of 2025.
The New Year Gala kicked off with a warm greeting from six hosts. Their opening words, "Snow celebrates the new year, red plum blossoms reflect splendid times," conveyed everyone’s heartfelt wishes for the coming year. School leaders also joined the festivities, bringing candies to share with the students.
From the youthful melody of the original song 526E by Melo Studio Music Club, to the harmonious duet Alaska Bay by seniors Xu Anni and Wang Jialin, and the graceful classical dance Xiangyufei by freshman Shen Chuyue from Class 14, Grade 10, each performance was a feast for the eyes and ears. Particularly striking was senior Su Hang from Class 14, Grade 12, who presented True Electronic Music—Tesla Coil, showcasing the mesmerizing fusion of science and art through the wonders of electromagnetic force.
A medley of songs in different languages and cultures transported the audience on a musical journey across the world, allowing them to experience the interplay of diverse traditions.
Yang Jiasen’s guitar solo Swan and Maiden sent the audience on a timeless voyage through classic melodies. Zha Qingyuan’s piano performance Bird’s Poem let everyone soar freely in the boundless sky of music. The delicate strumming of the pipa by Tong Jinyao from Class 15, Grade 10 in Yi Dance painted a vivid scene of joyful gatherings in a mountain village.
The chorus You and Me by students from Class 15, Grade 10 expressed the warm connections between people through sincere harmonies.
Chen Xingjuan and Yang Mohan from Class 15, Grade 12 performed Leave the Door Open, exuding a retro yet romantic charm. Han Leyang, Bai Aoyun, and Bi Ran delivered Yushi, a song filled with reflections on the past, present, and future.
Yan Chunming from Class 15, Grade 12 sang Butterfly, portraying the rise and fall of life and the yearning for freedom. Liu Jiahong from Class 13, Grade 12 enchanted the audience with the classical dance Wei, Wei, embodying courage, freedom, and beauty.
Adding to the laughter, Liu Yuanjie and Chen Xiaoyu from Class 14, Grade 11 presented Jay’s Show.
Beyond the students’ dazzling performances, teachers also shared their talents and blessings through song and drama. Teacher Tao Chang’s Snowman warmed the winter chill, while teachers Ren Xiaopeng and Qin Xiuping passionately performed Loyalty to the Motherland, dedicating it to students soon to venture abroad. Though they may travel far, their hearts will always remain connected to their homeland, forging ahead with courage—the motherland will forever be their roots. Foreign teacher Philip brought Music of the Night, shocking the audience by adorning the iconic mask from the Phantom of the Opera. The homeroom teachers’ voice-acting performance The Legend of Zhen Huan: Love and Hate During Finals humorously revealed the dedication behind their teaching.
Finally, the grand finale came with The Brightest Star in the Night Sky, performed by all teachers and students of Class 14, Grade 10, bringing the gala to a perfect close.
This New Year Gala was not just a visual and auditory feast but also a heartwarming and inspiring campus memory. It showcased the talents of teachers and students while celebrating the hard work and achievements of the past year. As the closing remarks stated, "In 2025, we will embrace new challenges with even greater enthusiasm and determination, writing new chapters of brilliance." May all good things come as promised in the new year.
