On November 27, 2024, the International Department of Beijing Normal University High School successfully held the international section forum of the Xicheng District Education Research Month in the studio. This event was honored to have Professor Chang Xueying from the Beijing Institute of Education, Mr. Ma Jianrong, senior advisor of the International Students Organization, Assistant Principal Xu Lan, and Deputy Director Zhang Jianbin of the Curriculum and Teaching Center, as well as teachers from our school's International Department and the Sino-foreign cooperative education program, all participating in this event.

Under the theme of "Exploring New Paths for High-Quality Classroom Teaching", this event was distinctive. Teacher Li Boshu Jie, the head of the International Department's teaching and research group, inspired by the "Lao She Tea-house" unit in the eighth-grade English textbook, guided the second-year junior high school students and international students to conduct independent exploration and project-based learning. The event concluded with a presentation and exchange, presenting a visual and auditory feast. The second-year junior high school students, combining what they had learned in and out of class, showcased a variety of themes including an introduction to Lao She's life, excerpts from the play "Teahouse", tea culture displays, guzheng performances, Peking Opera art, Kunqu Opera elegance, ethnic dances, calligraphy art, and Chinese painting. They also actively invited international students to participate in interactive sessions such as learning to sing Peking Opera, play the guzheng, and dance Chinese dances. The international students also presented wonderful displays of Indonesian tea culture, German tea culture, and a selection from the shadow play "Journey to the West - Three Battles with the White-Boned Demon", demonstrating their love and understanding of Chinese traditional culture.

After the event, the experts and attending teachers discussed the two topics of project-based teaching and Sino-foreign exchange activities. The experts highly praised the students' performance, stating that such a classroom was a pleasure to experience, and that such project designs and student interaction methods could effectively stimulate students' enthusiasm for learning and enhance their comprehensive qualities, providing an effective model for organizing Sino-foreign exchange activities. Professor Chang Xueying pointed out that in project-based teaching, it is necessary to fully trust students' abilities, give them sufficient freedom, and teachers should not overly interfere in the students' learning process, allowing the classroom to be fully student-centered. Mr. Ma Jianrong highly commended the organization form of this event, believing that the exchange and cooperation between Chinese and foreign students could effectively enhance comprehensive qualities, and expressed his willingness to actively support our school's future Sino-US exchange projects.

This event was not only a grand cultural exchange but also reflected the International Department's innovative exploration in teaching concepts. Chinese and foreign students led the entire event with their talents and enthusiasm. Through in-depth exchanges and mutual learning, they improved their language skills, deepened their cultural awareness, and enhanced their foreign language comprehensive qualities in a pleasant atmosphere. This event demonstrated the International Department's innovative spirit and practical ability in the field of education research, providing valuable experience and inspiration for exploring new paths for high-quality classroom teaching.
