Hong Kong School Principals delegation visits our school for an interchange of ideas

On the afternoon of October 28, principals of schools affiliated with the Hong Kong Anglican Church visited our school for an exchange visit. They were accompanied by Mr. Chen Zhilu, Deputy Director of the Education, Science and Technology Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and Mr. Cai Yijian from the Training College of Beijing Normal University.

The Hong Kong principals' delegation visited the Apricot Altar, Sanwei Book House, and Qian Xuesen Memorial Hall, gaining a deeper understanding of our school's long-standing educational tradition and unique cultural atmosphere. They also learned about the growth and achievements of distinguished alumnus Qian Xuesen during his years at the High School Affiliated to Beijing Normal University and his outstanding contributions to the nation.

At the exchange meeting, Principal Wang Liping introduced our school’s practice of “Whole-Person Education” from four dimensions: the three-level curriculum system meets students’ diverse developmental needs, in-depth subject-centered teaching stimulates students’ curiosity and desire for knowledge, personalized instruction helps students learn how to learn, and student development guidance supports students in planning for the future and promoting healthy growth. She also shared the progress and achievements of the students from our school. During the meeting, both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as teaching routines, compulsory education admissions, gifted student cultivation, and the implementation and impact of the “double reduction” policy.

In his concluding remarks, Deputy Director Chen Zhilu expressed sincere gratitude for the school's warm hospitality and hoped that exchanges between our school and Hong Kong could continue to deepen, promoting mutual sharing and coordinated development of educational resources.

At the end of the visit, Principal Wang Liping exchanged gifts with Mr. Guo Shiji, Director of the Edument of the Hongcation Services Depart Kong Anglican Church. Representatives from both sides then took a group photo in front of the school’s historic main gate.

Members of the delegation included Principal Jin Weiming of St. Andrew's Cathedral School, Principal Zheng Jien of Diocesan Preparatory School, Principal Leung Siu Yee of St. Mary's Hall, Principal Pan Shaoci of St. Paul's Co-educational College, Principal Yuen Tien of St. Paul's College, Principal Ma Li Minhui of St. Stephen's College, and Principal Chow Wai Chu of St. Stephen's Girls' College. As an important stop in the 2024 Beijing–Hong Kong Basic Education Forum under the theme “Implementing the Strategy of Building a Strong Education Nation and Developing a High-Quality Education System,” our school received high praise from the delegation. Although brief, the exchange proved meaningful and productive. We look forward to establishing more diverse and high-quality platforms for teacher and student exchanges in the future, promoting the joint advancement of basic education between Beijing and Hong Kong.
