Principal Wang Liping delivered the keynote speech at the 2023 World Conference on Public Science Literacy

On September 20, the 2023 World Public Science Literacy Promotion Conference "Cultivating Young People's Scientific Aspirations and Cultivating Basic Science Reserve Talents" was held in Beijing Shougang Park. Ms. Wang Liping, the principal of our school, was invited to attend the conference and gave the keynote speech entitled "Co-education, Co-Growth - Exploring the Way to Cultivate reserve Talents under the integration of resources inside and outside the school.” Principal Wang Liping introduced that our school has implemented the concept of whole-personality education, focusing on the goals of "two hearts -- patriotism, and responsibility, two abilities -- advanced thinking ability and practical ability,” and established a science and technology curriculum system from "Foundation”, “Aspiration" to "Excellence.” Through the integration of resources inside and outside the school, and focusing on Jinpeng Science and Technology Group, talent programs and other training methods, it will ultimately lead to sustainable development of students' scientific literacy and achieving education oriented towards the future.

The forum was cosponsored by China Association for Science and Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Beijing Municipal People's Government, co-hosted by Youth Science and Technology Center of China Association for Science and Technology, China Youth Science and Technology Educators Association, and co-organized by China Science and Technology Education Magazine. The forum also featured Julie Anne Luft, President of the American Association for Science Education, Manzoor Hussain Soomro, former President of the Science Foundation of the Economic Cooperation Organization, and Jacqueline Alice Akinyi Kado, Executive Director of the Union of African Academy of Sciences, Mamoeletsi Mosia, Managing Director of the South African National Research Foundation Science and Technology Promotion Agency, Pei Xining, Professor of East China Normal University, and Guo Congbin, professor of the School of Education, Peking University. Zheng Yonghe, the first president of the Institute of Science Education of Beijing Normal University and vice president of China Youth Science and Technology Educators Association, presided over the forum. This forum is not only an important forum to explore the frontiers of global science education, but also a platform for open cooperation and interaction. Through exchanges, the forum discussed how to standardize and extensively mobilize the power of relevant institutions in the field of science education, improve the quality of science education, stimulate the interest of young people in science, focus on the future of young people's science education, and make positive contributions to the cultivation of reserve talents for basic science innovation.
