Enlightening your mind - "Shakespeare Night" and "The Second Annual British and American Literature Poster Exhibition" rocked the campus!

On November 7, 2023, a long-awaited and wonderful "Shakespeare Night" and " The Second Annual British and American Literature Poster Exhibition" commenced in the AP Program of the High School Affiliated to Beijing Normal University, and the campus was filled with a strong atmosphere of literature and drama. 

From the stairwells of the campus to the immersive black box theater, AP students were immersed in the dual charms of drama and literature. The AP English teacher group led the students through the classics with their unique creativity, interpreting The Merchant of Venice, Scene 1, Act 3.

Inside the self-study room, the high and low elevated spaces became a microcosm of Venice, and a scene of a classic and familiar drama jumped to life with the students' performance. 

Inside the immersive theater, the black box theater became the perfect place for the audience to get up close and personally interacted with the play. With the sound of tapping, the audience traveled through the labyrinth and imbued themselves in the deep tension of The Merchant of Venice. 

Stepping out of the Black Box Theater, the outside of the library became an excellent viewing point for the first act of Macbeth Scene IV. Dressed in full costume, the students showed their superb acting skills and received awards from the leaders and warm applause from the students. 

At the same time, the British and American Literature Poster Exhibition area also shone with brilliant creativity. Students presented their unique insights into British and American culture in visual language, attracting the attention of teachers and students, realizing a perfect combination of academics and art. The works exhibited in the Literature Poster Exhibition were novel and unique in design, covering all aspects of the great works of literature. From two dimensional to three-dimensional to animation, the works took a variety of forms, all full of creativity, giving a strong visual impact. These works not only demonstrated the students' love and dedication to English learning, but also showed their unique thinking and expression. 

Teachers and students from the AP program and Gaokao senior grades carefully selected and voted for the exhibited works. Among them, the work about "Rick and Morty" was favored by most teachers and won first place, while "Murder on the Orient Express" followed in second place. Apart from that, the posters about Harry Potter, Flipped and 1984 also impressed the teachers. 

"It was an evening of creative and enthusiastic literary theater, and I am very proud of the students' performance!" the school leader said after watching. 

"Shakespeare Night" and "The Second British and American Literature Poster Exhibition" not only successfully led students into the hall of literature and drama, but also injected new vitality into the school’s culture. This night, the melding of theater and literature filled the AP International Department of the High School affiliated to Beijing Normal University with a rich literary atmosphere, and set up a broader stage for the students' future academic exploration and artistic path. 

"These works are not only visually stunning, but also demonstrate the students' deep understanding and creative expression of British and American literature!" said Ms. Rachel, the foreign teacher in charge of the poster exhibition. 

This highly creative literary poster exhibition was a brand new attempt for students to learn English, stimulating their passion for foreign literature and laying a solid foundation for their future academic exploration. The students reinterpreted classic works in their own unique way, which added to the whole event and injected new vitality into the campus culture.
